Honoree: Marcelle Capps
Honored by: WHW
Cause Area: Workforce Development & Financial Literacy
Even before she retired from First Bank, Marcelle was volunteering to empower WHW clients to become economically independent by teaching financial literacy Courses for over a decade. Upon retiring, the very first thing Marcelle did was to commit to serving as a consistent volunteer to equip WHW job seekers to effectively seek employment several times a week. Marcelle dedicates her Mondays to working one-on-one with clients as a Personal Stylist to help them pick-out ‘interview-ready’ business attire and educate them on what it means to dress professionally. Serving clients in WHW’s Apparel Department is not the only role she plays as she also serves as a Resume Coach on Thursdays to equip WHW’s job seekers with their most powerful tool to secure employment. When Marcelle is helping clients with their resumes, we know they are in good hands as she brings over 35 years of hiring experience and provides her expertise to WHW clients. The impact Marcelle makes extends beyond the direct connection she makes with WHW job seekers as she has played an instrumental role in planning WHW’s Annual Luncheon & Fashion Show, the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year, for the past several years. Marcelle continues to be a driving force on the planning committee for this year’s fundraising event that will take place at the Resort on Pelican Hill on May 6 and aims to help bring in record breaking funds to support the organization’s mission. Marcelle is an integral part of WHW and can be counted on to serve clients, support staff and help move the needle for the organization’s fundraising efforts…she is priceless!
