VIPS “VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR 2016”
I would like to nominate Jeff Myer for Volunteer of the Year. Jeff is an instrumental member of the Training Unit staff. He regularly puts in several hours per day over several days per week for the Training Unit. His hours vary from week to week because he will always stay to complete whatever job needs to be done, regardless of how long it takes.
Jeff volunteers by maintaining all paperwork and files related to HBPD firearms. Jeff has taken it upon himself to clean up and digitize the firearms issuing system and has helped revamp the way firearms are currently issued. During Jeff’s audit of the firearms, he noted several discrepancies from our former system which lead to inaccurate inputting regarding the state/federal systems. Jeff has also taken it upon himself to audit officers who had not received their Vested guns and new duty guns owed to them. As of this writing, over 20 officers have received new duty firearms because of Jeff’s diligence
Jeff has further made himself available to the Training Unit by answering emails and solving problems in the quickest manner.
Most importantly, Jeff’s work has allowed the members of the Training Unit to focus their efforts on providing necessary training for our officers.
The Huntington Beach Police Department is proud and honored to have Jeff Myer as a member of our VIPS program.
