“No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” – Author Unknown

Debi Callahan learned about Blind Children’s Learning Center from one of her clients whose children attended the Center.  As she discovered the critical services the Center provides for children with visual impairments, she didn’t hesitate when her client asked for her volunteer support.

Her commitment and dedication has grown as Debi joined the Board of Directors, chairs the Fund Development Committee, and co-chairs the Center’s major annual fundraising event – Destination Independence 5K Walk which now annually raises more than $125,000.

Debi is a team player and recognizes the value of uniting a group of individuals that possess a diversity of skills.  She is an exceptional leader with the talent to motivate and bring together community leaders, business owners, parents, student volunteers and so many other types of volunteers to work toward a common cause to support Blind Children’s Learning Center.

Her enthusiasm and unmistakable dedication breeds the same loyalty.  The volunteers Debi has introduced to the Center are now multiplying and following her lead that together they can accomplish great feats to help Blind Children’s Learning Center fulfill its mission to prepare children with visual impairment for a life of independence.

  1. Debi epitomizes selflessness and sacrifice. She spends hours each week doing the unseen and unsexy work so the kids at BCLC get the best education and training they can. This award could not have been given to a better person. Kudos, Debi!
