Charlie has been an utter joy to work with ever since he and his wife, Joan, stepped into our warehouse one year ago. Charlie first came to us through our partnership with Eastside Christian Church, and since then, he has served as Eastside’s volunteer liaison/ambassador for Giving Children Hope. He has recruited volunteers, contributed his time & talent (even while working a full-time job), and has advocated on our behalf consistently. But more than that, he has shown immense compassion and love for the families that we serve. Whether it’s a wave and a “hello” or a humongous smile, Charlie is able to make a 43,000 square-foot warehouse feel like home for our families.wasson_charlie-giving-children-hope2

Last year, Charlie lost Joan to cancer, but his heart for service remained intact. Charlie continued to serve diligently and continues to serve to this day, knowing that serving the underprivileged is what Joan would have wanted him to do. This year, he has taken the lead, along with Eastside Church members, to host a carnival for 80 families in our program.

We are so grateful for Charlie’s commitment to our mission and vision, and we are lucky to call him a part of our Giving Children Hope family.
